COMMUNITY BASED LEARNING PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS

St. Dominic High School, as a Catholic educational institution, recognizes its fundamental obligation to cultivate service-oriented values in its student body, following Christ’s call to serve one another.

The Community-Based Learning Program constitutes an integral component of the School’s comprehensive educational framework, extending pedagogical boundaries beyond traditional classroom instruction. This innovative educational approach, rooted in the Gospel values of compassion and service, facilitates interactive engagement between students and the broader Sint Maarten community, thereby challenging students to discover the profound satisfaction derived from meaningful service to others as an expression of their faith.

Through systematic participation in this program, students shall develop enhanced social awareness by experiencing firsthand their capacity to contribute meaningfully to the Sint Maarten community, embodying the principle of being their brother’s keeper. The program additionally provides valuable exposure to professional environments, facilitating career exploration and workplace competency development. These experiences are designed to strengthen self-esteem while fostering acceptance of social and civic responsibilities as part of their Christian duty.

The Community-Based Learning Program mandates that each student complete:

  • sixty (60) hours of community-based learning, distributed across
  • three (3) academic years commencing in Third Form.
