The St. Dominic High School is an official registered CXC center and has offered exams since 1998. As a result, all exams are offered at General Proficiency level. The exams are graded from 1 through 6; 1 being the highest and 6 being the lowest.

CXC aims to cover a large group of candidates with a wide range of skills. Besides the exams, part of the final CSEC grades consist of practical work done at school and at home, called the School Based Assessments (SBAs). These SBAs require independent work from the students. The teachers will guide the students through the process of writing their SBAs and doing their lab work.

It is necessary that students plan this work well and strictly adhere to the deadlines set by teachers. Failing to do so might result in exclusion from the final CSEC examinations.
